Newwburgh City Manager Richard Herbek has announced the appointment of Joanne Majewski as the City of Newburgh Assessor. Previously the Assistant Assessor, Ms. Majewski replaces Fernando Gonzalez, who resigned in March. Majewski has resided in the City of Newburgh for more than 30 years.

Ms. Majewski is a New York State Certified Residential Real Estate Appraiser, with 23 years of experience in the field.  She previously was licensed by New York State as a Real Estate Salesperson, a Property & Casualty Insurance Broker, and Life, Accident & Health Insurance Broker. She was also a Registered Securities Representative.

She commented, “Newburgh has so much to offer, easy access to all forms of transportation, scenic beauty, majestic architecture that is unparalleled by surrounding communities; rich history, and cultural diversity.”

Joanne noted that overcoming people’s negative perception of the City is a challenge, but added, “I am encouraged by the many residents and businesses owners who take pride in their properties and in the City of Newburgh.”

City Manager Richard Herbek said, “In addition to having a long-term investment in the City, Ms. Majewski has an extensive background in property appraisal and real estate. She was a tremendous help to the former Assessor, and I am pleased that she was willing to take on this added responsibility.”
