SUNY Orange business professor Lucinda Fleming has been named a regional winner of the 2011 Teaching Excellence Award presented annually by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs.

As a regional winner of the ACBSP award, which recognizes individuals each year who exemplify teaching excellence in the classroom, Fleming received a medallion and a $100 stipend at the 2011 ACBSP annual conference June 24th-27th in Indianapolis, Ind., and will now be considered for the organization’s International Teaching Excellence Award.

“Lucinda has been teaching at SUNY Orange since August 2001 and brings many talents, skills, professionalism and human relations in this capacity. Her colleagues and students like and respect her,” said Suzanne Krissler, chair of the College’s Business Department.
Since joining the SUNY Orange faculty in 2001, Fleming has been a valued member of the College’s Business Department. She currently serves as assistant chair of the department after having served for several years as chair of the Business Management Department before the College merged it with the Accounting Department. At one point in her nearly 10 years at SUNY Orange, Fleming has taught nearly every business, marketing or management course in the College’s curriculum.

She has helped integrate online learning into the College’s curriculum and has developed many online and hybrid business courses. She completed the proposal for a business management degree program currently being offered at SUNY Orange’s new Newburgh Campus and she works closely with those high school faculty who teach business courses through SUNY Orange’s Community College in the High School (CCHS) program. Last spring, she was presented with the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Teaching Excellence, the highest honor bestowed upon community college faculty within the SUNY system.
